No idea is truly original. No matter what kind of business your entrepreneurial journey has manifested in, it’s likely that you built upon an existing idea.
When writing my The Fast Forward Mindset, I initially thought that I was putting this highly original energy out into the world. Over time, as I was able to reflect, it dawned on me that this book – and perhaps every other book before it – has been a compilation of preexisting ideas.
To be fair, authors often come up with original frameworks for these ideas, as I did, and their own individual stories make up the books’ unique qualities. However, I could name plenty of sources I drew inspiration from while writing.
One of the biggest inspirations has been How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. In this book, Carnegie deftly explores the sources of our worries while offering practical solutions that help put our worries in perspective. This book played a pivotal role in shaping my own mindset, helping me be more Fearless and Focused. It was a vital part of the ideas that led me to write my very first book.
